The Path of the Gods is a naturalistic path connecting the city of Agerola to the Positano hamlet of Nocelle.
The path has very old origins; the local hills’ inhabitants used it to reach the towns located along the way for commercial purposes and for sheep farming activities. The path has become famous because it offers breath-taking landscapes and embraces the infinite beauty of the Amalfi coast from unique points of view. The path is about 9 kilometres long and, departing from Bomerano, near Agerola, you can reach Positano in about 6 hours. Surrounded by untouched nature, you can take a look at plants typical of the Mediterranean scrub and of the Lattari Mounts, hanging between the sea, visible from every point of the path, and the coast’s blue sky.
The sheer beauty of the path comes especially from the total lack of human marks; in fact, despite its closeness to residential areas, the wildlife is blooming and luxuriant.
The origin of the name probably comes from the legend according to which the Greek deities passed by this path to save Ulysses, the Greek hero who, during his odyssey while going back home after the war of Troy, passed by the Gallos archipelago, where the mermaids lived.
From the path, you can enjoy the view of the Gallos and the dolphin-shaped islet, as well as the Sorrentine peninsula in its full extent and see the Capri sea stacks, “Faraglioni”, in the distance. You can stop along the way to one of the numerous panoramic terraces and cool off at the drinkable freshwater springs you will find. For who leaves from Sorrento or Salerno, it is advisable to reach Positano’s harbour to board on one of our yachts and continue your hike to the next destination. That of the path of the Gods is an unforgettable experience not to be missed during your holiday in the Amalfi coast."
